This essay examines the period of the High Middle Ages (1100-1500CE) that is generally accepted to have been particularly influential in the development of Christian anti-Semitism. It examines how the influential Jewish presence within the emerging nations of Europe and Luther’s words were taken out of context to provide the basis for a virulent form of anti-Semitism to arise during this period.
This was only a 2500 word undergraduate essay but I had the privilege of being taught by one of the most accomplished scholars in this field, so it is a good essay. A PDF is found here.
