This was a 2300 word essay on one of the toughest subjects in philosophy and theology – the doctrine of God. Michael Palmer, author of the exceptional undergraduate philosophy textbook, “The Question of God” describes the concept of God as a huge confluence of concepts and ideas in philosophy and theology. Indeed, the concept of God within a philosophical school, is seminal to its outlook. This essay, after a short historical review, looks at the distinctive Christian conception of the Trinity where the ancient “One and the Many” problem (universals and particulars) is “solved” in a unique fashion.
