When Prophets Really Do Disagree

This is a supplementary article supporting my YouTube presentation.

This first section was derived from my comment on this article in Prophecy Today.

I was late to this party because I only found out in a recent conversation that the party had happened at all, but I certainly take issue with the assertion that the ACPE did not establish the words as ‘flagrantly false.’ This is the original ‘Zoom call’ recording where it is outlined in detail why the word given would be unacceptable on a number of important criteria, perhaps the most significant being they lacked a redemptive quality, i.e., there was no room for repentence, these words are set, no call to prayer and their questionable release on the night before the election. Jennifer LeClaire’s contribution in the discussion was excellent on that point.

There is also an important governmental and accountability issue, in contravention of ACPE’s own code of conduct (GPA’s Emma who issued the most controversial word was stated as a member of the ACPE), such radical and incendiary words should have been submitted to the wider body of which she is a member rather than just her ‘local group.’ If you as a foreigner are going to prophesy into another nation, it should be done with care and respect. Cindy Jacobs also did a short follow-up Facebook Q&A as a response to GPA’s response to the original response, https://fb.watch/wJcD3o4Aem/ .

It is important also to note that Bishop Bill Hamon, recognised by Emma as the leader and founder of the movement of which she is a member, was forthright in his criticism of the words, his closing statement distilled the Trump issue down nicely. As a final observation, it is important to note, they did not accuse Emma or other GPA prophets as ‘false prophets’ but that these were false prophecies, an important and emphasised distinction, which Tom in his article seems to be confused about (the ‘Questions and Concerns’ section). For what it is worth, being a former member of GPA with some personal appreciation of Emma but having a sharp divergence on their approach to the political, my own cathartic response is on my channel here.

This, to my surprise was a response from Prophecy Today, followed by my further response.

Hello M Macneill. A couple of points in response to your post:
1) PT’s reference to what the ACPE said is based solely on the official statement they issued, signed by over two dozen ‘prophets’ on their Council. It does not refer to any zoom discussion held by individual council members.
2) PT has not examined the ACPE’s code of conduct, eg, in regard to making a prophecy concerning another nation.
3) Our article does not state that the ACPE termed Emma Stark or other members of her team ‘false prophets’, as you suggest. Rather, it rightly states they referred to ‘false prophecies’. But the article does show how the ACPE refer to Ms Stark as one “who many identify as a prophet”, suggesting that they do not. Indeed, in their entire lengthy statement, in all their references to Emma, they refer to her variably as a ‘minister’ and as a ‘person’, but never as a ‘prophet’.
But your post makes some helpful and interesting points, which some readers may wish to follow up on.

My further response (slightly edited to avoid circular referencing!)

Thank you for the response, I was surprised to elicit a response at this late stage!

In my own discussion surrounding this controversy, I do try and fill in the wider context and why this matters to me. It seems to miss the major miracle of the Trump’s survival and subsequent election, and the sheer competence and brilliance of the team he is assembling from across the political divide. In line with other prophetic voices such as those that might be labelled the ‘Word of Faith’ stream, it is a sign of the rebirth of the nation, not its destruction, that is where I try and focus my discussion. That is what I believe is prophetically significant.

However, my personal involvement with and training by GPA meant I do spend some time talking about this specific controversy, being honest that may be more of a cathartic act on my part. The collision of GPA/ACPE is not as sudden as it would appear on the surface but has been bubbling away for the last 18 months where ACPE members most definitely have (as in Jennifer LeClaire’s really useful summary in further response to the GPA’s response) been attempting to engage with the GPA regarding the tone and content of other prophetic words regarding the US.

I accept your point as to how Emma was referred to in the briefing, Bill Hamon’s contribution to the call is particularly pertinent here. Reading between the lines, as Emma publicly acknowledges Bill Hamon as the head of the movement, he could be seen as giving a very pointed rebuke to refuse the title ‘prophet’. However, judging by the GPA video response, it did not seem to illicit any contrition, the only possible implication you could draw was that it was in mind when Emma talks about being ‘rude’ about those you ‘disagree’ with or that the differences resulted from different political ideologies. In my estimation, this is much more than disagreement – the written response by the GPA is actually far more explicit, labelling the ACPE as the old, idolatrous and corrupt prophet unable to handle the ministry of the new prophet!

Perhaps the worst aspect of this from a British prophetic perspective, is that the nominal governing body for the British Isles, the British Council of Prophets, tasked with providing an ethical framework for the prophetic here, has recently dissolved itself. I will endeavour to discover when this dissolution occured and whether it was in response to this event.

…The Zoom call I mentioned was not private but was posted on Vimeo, and various ACPE members also posted it on their YouTube channels.

This is a slightly abridged version of the ‘Description’ of my video presentation on YouTube which helpfully outlines my approach on this issue:

As a previous member of GPA (Glasgow Prophetic Alliance) and having attended both Year 1 and 2 of the emerging prophets training programme, this is my reflection on the condemnation of the prophetic words given by the GPA by the ACPE (Apostolic Council of Prophetic Elders), nominally the body that oversees the Hamonite prophetic movement of which the GPA acknowledges its lineage and the principal minister was once a recognised member.

The GPA leader who caused the controversy was in good standing it seems until around 18 months ago, since which there has, it is alleged in the ACPE content, been an exchange attempting to mitigate the controversy surrounding previous words that specifically concern the US. There have, it is alleged, been calls and discussions involving the ACPE with the GPA expressing concerns over the content and tone of some of these words. However, on this occasion, a public condemnation as ‘false’ of prophecies given by the GPA on the eve of the American election concerning Trump and the collapse of American democracy, led to a public response by the GPA to the ACPE and a counter-response by the ACPE which they considered ‘final’.

The most concise summary of the controversy from the point of view of the ACPE is found in Jennifer LeClaire’s video: https://youtu.be/0kz54URzuRM where she also refers to claim and counterclaim. Cindy Jacobs did a quick Q&A on the fallout from the initial confrontation, which is very useful to establish some basic facts about what happened: https://fb.watch/wJcD3o4Aem/
GPAs response is found in written form at https://www.propheticscots.com/response-to-acpe/ and the in video form at https://youtu.be/JyI4iNQ1S3w.

As you will be able to tell, assertions made in the GPA written response do not seem to correlate well with the facts and sequence of events as presented by the ACPE. In light of this disturbing failure to be able to agree on the basic facts, I chose to concentrate on the more positive message of the enormous quality of the team that Trump is assembling as a sign that the US is being reborn in line with prophecies issued by other recognised prophets. Thus, whilst I provide my discussion and view of this controversy in Part 1 (00:00:00 – 00:40:00), in Part 2 (00:00:40 – 01:23:21) I discuss what I believe to be the prophetic significance of the Trump election and the exceptional calibre of the Trump team as representing a rebirth of the American nation.

In other words, I reject the GPA prophetic words as fundamentally dissonant to what should be seen as divine providence for the US and by implication for other nations around the world, a response to the international prayer and support of believers around the world concerned to arrest the decline and chaos of the last four years in the US, characterised by wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, threats to Taiwain, a breakdown of national sovereignty with mass illegal immigration, mass drug smuggling by cartels, traffiking of minors, the emboldening of Islamic terror and a breakdown of respect for the West and its democratic and republican models of governance around the world.

What did the British Council of Prophets Say?

The British Council of Prophets existed to ensure there was a degree of governance and accountability for the prophetic in the British Isles. It outlined “prophetic ethics” for the members, and so I was extremely interested to find out what their take on this controversy was, as I knew Emma was a core member of the council (this page link is still live, I believe this may be a mistake but it makes my point). So, I was extremely disturbed to find out that the Council had dissolved itself – all you will find on this once glorious hub of the British prophetic movement, is an insipid, single signature statement written in prophetiese (tr. prophetic talking points) announcing this dissolution. The single signature was not previously listed as a core member of the group, though he is claiming to be speaking for the group.

This type of episode was precisely why the Council should exist and it appears to be a dereliction of duty that they have dissolved themselves at this juncture. Whether this was a direct response to this controversy or the wider issues with the GPA (that is probably now the most influential prophetic grouping in the British Isles), I will endeavour to discover. I do have the privilege of knowing one member.
